What is KYC?

  • The term “Know-your-Customer” (KYC) means the process of checking the personal and business data of new customers of a credit institution with the aim of money laundering and terrorist financing prevention on the basis of the Money Laundering Act 2018 (AML-4 guideline).

  • The German Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) is the law on the tracing of profits from serious criminal offences that states that such institutions must adhere to the guidelines for combating money laundering. This law contains the requirements according to which financial service providers must identify customers receiving payments from marketplaces or other Internet platforms.
